Our staff will make your stay as stress-free as possible.
A Break With Young Children: Guide
We’re decidedly Free Range - we’re not about schedules but we can help you organise your time with us. We’ve got 500 acres of Pembrokeshire countryside to explore, roads perfect for learning to ride bikes on, and fantastic play areas. Here are a few suggestions for making the most of it.
Choose your accommodation
The joy of the UK staycation is on the rise - according to research more than half of Brits are planning to holiday on these shores this year. And when the beauty of Pembrokeshire is so easily within reach, why choose anywhere else? Our luxury lodges and cottages come in different shapes and sizes - but they are all beautifully decorated with local art, expansive kitchens, and bathrooms, and large, soft beds made with crisp cotton.
If there’s four of you, then a two-bedroom cottage might suit you and put you right in the middle of the village’s shops and restaurants and in easy reach of our play area. Our self-catering lodges offer much more space to live and play in and there are plenty of options and sizes - they offer easy access right out into the countryside so the little ones can embrace the outdoors right out the door. They all come with high chairs, stair gates, and travel cots as standard - leaving you space in the car for the fun things.
Book your buggy and bikes
Pop the kids on the back and get exploring! There’s a lot to find at Bluestone, and our buggies are a great fun way to get around - not to mention a hit with children. They’re such a novelty the little ones love cruising around the resort on them. Find out more about buggy hire here.
Bluestone is located in a natural valley, so little legs can often get tired - booking a bike or buggy is a great way for everyone to explore, together!
Hit the Bluestone Village
Once you’ve arrived and are finding your feet, our play area in the Bluestone Village is an easy way to gently introduce the children to the Bluestone experience. Step into the village, with its very own historical pub, shops, coffee house, and restaurants, you’ll find everything you could possibly need during your stay.
There’s even a village green, a perfect spot for picnics, and the Treetops adventure playground, complete with a Treetots area just for the very young. You’ll find you’ve discovered the perfect place to meet up and plan your Free Range Fun over a coffee or a pint or to kick back and watch the world go by.
Visit the Blue Lagoon Water Park
It won’t be long after you arrive before the appeal of getting wet and splashing around starts to work its magic on your young entourage (and maybe the older members of the family…). Depending on how long you stay you’ll probably find that one visit to the Blue Lagoon Water Park won’t be enough - it takes wild adventures to the next level in a temperature-controlled environment that’s great throughout the year.
For younger ones, there are separate wet play areas and Nippers Cove where they can hunt in the rock pools. Visits to the Blue Lagoon are included in your stay so enjoy it as much as you want (and maybe mum and dad can sneak a zoom on a flume or two).
Take Little Legs For A Walk
We want the heart of your stay to be about Free Range Fun supervised by Free Range parents! We’re all about counting bugs rather than scores on a computer screen - splashing in puddles and making mud pies. Take a wander along our Nature Trail which meanders through the beautiful ancient forest and alongside the babbling brooks and river. Or team your little free rangers up with our Rangers for our woodland Free Ranger activities perfect for children. They’ll explore the areas surrounding our woodland den on this fun activity led by our Ranger you’ll track down all types of creatures, bringing them back to the den.
Marvel At Serendome
The breath-taking Serendome brings the outdoors indoors and that means lots of Free Range Fun whatever the weather. Let the little ones loose on our new play areas – the Imagination Garden, Sand Play, and Water Play. Or let them take on the Sky Walk Mini, an obstacle course designed for little legs.
A family meal at The Farmhouse Grill
There’s plenty of evening options around the resort - try the Farmhouse Grill for quality local produce with local meats and fish grilled in a family atmosphere. It's family-friendly too with Children's menus and lots of space to fit the whole family.
Explore The Hive
Enter The Hive! Filled with imagination and energy, our centre for all things play fuels young minds and encourages movement and activity through a number of exciting interactive elements. Conquer the Power Tower, spring around the Airmaze, soar on the Adrenaline and more at The HIVE!
A Well Earned Rest At The Spa
Okay, this isn’t strictly for the under 5s, but it wouldn’t be fair if mum or dad didn’t get to steal a few relaxing hours at the Well Spa Retreat while the kids are being thoroughly tired out? The team of therapists are highly trained, so talk to them about how you’re feeling and let them recommend treatments or therapies to bring you back to optimum health. Then you’ll be refreshed and ready for more Free Range Fun.
A Perfect Break For Little Ones
See your little ones eyes light up with wonder and imaginations blossom with a midweek Winter Lights Break!
